Web page Translation - Translate full web pages to your language or choose the language to translate from and then the language you want to translate to. The web page that you are browsing will be translated.

Text Translation - select text on a web page, choose the language pair and the text will be translated. If you don't select any text, a page will open which will enable you to enter text for translation.

Services - Links to various language services: dictionaries, encyclopedias, multilingual keyboard, text-to-speech, language identification, language learning, free human translation, etc. If you select text before opening services, many of them will open accordingly. Other services offered are: phone search, world clock, Google maps, etc.
Text-to-speech lets you input text and hear the computer say it. Language identification is especially useful if you come across a language that you want to translate but you don't know what language it is.
or
AutoTrans / Original - This button has two separate functions.
1. AutoTrans - Automatically recognizes the domain (.com, .org, .fr, .es, etc.) of the web page that you are browsing. When you click on AutoTrans, it translates the page to the default language that you have chosen in the FoxLingo options. There is also an option to translate pages instantly without having to press the AutoTrans button. You can choose to have AutoTrans recognize the language of the web page by domain, or by using Google AutoTrans. When recognizing by domain note that the domain does not always represent the language of the web page. In addition if a language pair is unavailable AutoTrans will attempt to translate from English. Google AutoTrans only translates between languages supported by Google.
2. Original - When a web page is translated the AutoTrans button changes its function. Clicking on it will bring you to the current page in its original untranslated version.

Search - Pressing on the green search button initiates the default web search. Pressing on the black arrow to the right of the search button will open a drop-down menu which provides various web searches and language services, including many useful dictionaries, enyclopedias and an option to translate the text that was entered in the search box. The two main web searches are Ixquick and Ask Search. Ixquick uses many search engines and has several unique features including language search, hide unwanted results, family filter, search images by size and much more. Ask Search is a FoxLingo search which gets its results from Yahoo or Ask depending on the language of the term that is being searched. If you want to resize the search box drag the vertical line between the search box and the search button.

Translated Search - When this button is turned on, any text entered into the search box is translated before it is sent to the default search or the site you choose from the search menu. If you want to search foreign pages you can easily do this by turning on this feature. To choose which language to translate from and which language to translate to, click on the black arrow to the right of the 'Translated Search' button.

Highlighter - The words in the search box are highlighted in the current web page when this button is clicked.

WordFind - When text is entered into the search box, WordFind buttons are created automatically. When you click on a WordFind button, it sends you to where that word is in the current page.

Options
FoxLingo can be tailored to suit your interests and taste. Explanations of the various options tabs follow:

There are three sections in this tab: Auto Translation, General and Search.
1. Auto Translation section - It is important to choose your default language to translate into. When the blue AutoTrans button on the toolbar is clicked, it translates the current web page to the default language that you choose here. There is an option to translate pages instantly without having to press the AutoTrans button. You can choose to have AutoTrans translate by domain (.com, .org, .fr, .es, etc.), or by Google AutoTrans. When recognizing by domain note that the domain does not always represent the language of the web page. In addition if a language pair is unavailable AutoTrans will attempt to translate from English. Google AutoTrans only translates between languages supported by Google.
2. General section - You have a choice of how FoxLingo opens links: in the current tab, in a new tab or in a new window. You can choose this separately for the web page translation, services/text translation and search queries. If languages and translators are disabled then in many cases language menus will have no available pair and will be hidden. To show these language menus enable the 'Hide Empty Menus' option.
3. Search section - You can choose the default search engine. Ixquick uses many search engines, has several unique features, including language search, family filter, hide unwanted results and much more. Ask Search is a FoxLingo search which gets its results from Yahoo or Ask depending on the language of the term that is being searched.

Choose which buttons you want displayed on the toolbar, including flag buttons representing languages of your choice. You can also have Webpage translation in the context menu (right mouse button on webpage) or on the status bar. If you specify a default language in the main options lab, you can choose to make the language menus clickable. One click on the language of the web page will then automatically translate to your default language. In addition, you have a choice of flags to represent English, French and Spanish.

Choose the languages you want to translate from.

Choose the languages you want to translate to.

Choose the translator services you want available. The 'Show only one translator service per pair' option shows all the different translator services for each pair. This is useful if you want to try out different translator services to check their quality or if you use some translator services in some cases and other translator services in other cases.
